When a young minister and his wife find that they can't have children of their own, they set out to adopt. After adopting Don (now a handsome, white teenager), they wanted more children. In this process, they discovered that "nobody wanted" children of color, so they created a family of "unadoptables". As the family adjusts to a new town and church assignement, they forage the perils of sibling rivalry, teen-ager drama, town curisoties and biases with unity and resolve as they support one another and teach others the meaning of family. With its laughter and pathos, this play is a unique combination of high ideals and high entertainment.
